PRO.y.a.s initiative, which is running for last 3/4 years in Production Engg Dept of Jadavpur University is an acronym for *Production Young Achievers' Scheme*
Students would spend 4years now at JU. But after that, they would spend 35 more years in their career and profession. And hence, beside the usual Formal subjects (where they have to mandatorily do classes, take exams, pass the exams, clear the supplimentaries), in the Informal PRO.y.a.s program, PRODigy Alumni from last various batches volunteer to come to the present students’ classes once in a month or two months physically or through Virtual Meeting platforms, share with them their own life experiences as well as very very important issues critical for sustainance and success in Professional life at Corporate, Academia & Entrepreneurship, which most of us would find useful and readily applicable for these next few decades. None of these Alumni get paid to talk to them. And all programs of PROyas are free of any charges for 1st/2nd/3rd/4th year JU PRODigies
There are no mandatory attendance rituals in PROyas programs. Any JU PRODigy who likes the subject, attends it. There is no marks or certificates which they get. The only thing which they get is : Real Life Experience (in advance) shared from the horse's mouth: before they actually expect to face it or face it.

HOW IT STARTED OFF: Few Volunteer Alumni have startedsome regular activities through an informal, but serious set of mentoring initiatives focused on Students of 2nd & 3rd year of Jadavpur University Production Engineering Dept with 5 clear starting objectives:
**1.Faster completion of Campus employment for all the PRODigies
**2.Increasing median salary-offers of each batch during placement season while significantly enhancing employability
**3.Increasing the competitiveness/mindshare of the PRODigies inside the JU Campus placement cell as well as the Industry in general
**4.Creating Real opportunities & Real context for Senior & Junior Alumni to interact/ create/ support/ execute some desirable common agenda
**5.Propelling this initiative in a way which makes it and takes it towards being self-sustainable in the medium 3/4/5 years term
WHERE ARE WE NOW: At this juncture, where close to 40th batch have already graduated, JU Production Department can boast of around at least 1200+ Alumni. While it will take reasonable amount of time for the Alumni to take note, feel it and push it towards the above goals; a significant unreasonable amount of cooperation has already started flowing in from the Departmental Professors and the present set of Students which is hugely welcome! Even much more than resources, what it needs more right at this point in time is, some Serious Attention and Advice from the Alumni. Friend, Welcome to PROyas! :-)
